Please right click the volume in the lower right and go to "Open Sound Settings"
Under "Input" click "Device Properties"
Click "Additional device properties" under "Related Settings"
Click the "Levels" tab - it's likely that the box next to the number indicates that the microphone is muted. Click this to "unmute" and then say OK and try again.
