When calculating the final grade by default all values are treated equally.  For a full year course with a final exam this means that every grade counts 20%.

This needs to be changed for grade 5 and 6 classes since the final exam is weighted differently.  The final exam for grade 5 counts 10% and for grade 6 counts 15%.  Therefore the weights have to be updated for your course.

To do so, click the name of your course in the Gradebook top tab to bring up the Details of the course.  At the bottom of the screen there should be "Grade calculation weights."  Click the arrow next to it to make it expand.

The example above would be the values for a grade 6 course.   For a grade 5 course the values would be 22.5, 22.5, 22.5, 22.5, 10, 0.    Weights of 1 in every value means they will be treated equally if a grade is present in that column.  You don't have to worry about blanking out Q4 Regents if no value will be entered into that column - if the column is empty then it won't be factored into the average.

Once your weights have been changed click the Save button at the top of the details page.  These values have to be updated for each of your courses.

To verify what weights the Final Grade calculation is using you can click the blue FinalGrade header in your Scores side tab where you enter grades.

Clicking the Update button will populate the column.  Once you do so you must "Post" for the Final Grade to be transferred to the report card.

Please note that if you've already clicked the Update button and later realize you have to update your weights you must click the Update button again for the new calculation to be used.  And please remember that any time a change is made to a term grade in the gradebook you must post again to make sure it transfers to the report card.
